Telenet, down in Brussels
The Internet service provider, Telenet has seen its services entirely down in some parts of Bruxelles Belgium since yesterday, the 18th of May 2020.
In these affected regions within Brussels, customers, many of whom are frustrated, couldn’t make calls or have access to the internet. The worst part of it is that the internet service provider call centers or customer service was entirely shut off. Any customer who called would meet a voice-mail cautiously telling them that there is a technical glitch with their services in the affected areas. That, sadly, was all you could get from telenet as information since yesterday.
However, this morning at about noon, the company, telenet, sent sms to its affected customers, or maybe some of its customers, addressing the technical problems they were and are still facing. Hopefully, the service might be restored later in the day.
Well, the sms was a message a little too late as that could have been the very first thing to do for a company of that magnitude. It was a poor commercial advisory display. One that could be regarded as a gross display of incompetence and a disrespect of its clients who deserve more of an up to date information at a sensitive time such as that provided by the convid19 crisis.
Of course, the covid-19 has affected the way companies do things but not necessarily the internet service providers. I mean, they should know better. They are the ones benefitting greatly since the entire world at this time rely more on their services. Other companies are shutting down because of financial problems related to the covid-19 pandemic but this repercussion is not affecting the core of business in the world of télécommunications and internet services and technology.
We can, however, forgive them for this error but if it continues beyond today, they should consider compensating the affected clients who have had to bear the brunt of such colossal technical glitch.
Telenet Group is the largest provider of cable broadband services in Belgium. Its business comprises the provision of analog and digital cable television, fixed and mobile telephone services, primarily to residential customers in Flanders and Brussels. In addition, Telenet offers services to business customers all across Belgium and in Luxembourg under its brand Telenet Solutions.
Brussels, therefore, can hope to have their steady, uninterrupted internet-based services provided by telenet in a short while, hopefully. It’s believed, until then, that the technical team is working hard to make sure that all goes well.
